Harper's Ferry, the target of John Brown's famous raid, was an industrial center before the Civil War and a sprawling military base during the war. Hike 5 to 8 miles (your choice) with the writer of regional guides to explore sites rarely seen by visitors to the area. The walk may include up to 10 people. Some off-trail walking will be necessary. The author of Circuit Hikes in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania and other books on trails in the Washington region will lead this fascinating tour.
