Item Description
The piece is entitled "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". The medium used was gesso and permanent marker. My creative process starts with doodles. This is the first time I used my art on something other then a canvas. Most of my art has no subject or narrative. In interpreting the song "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" I wanted to portray the energy of a moment in songs narrative. I like to think of my art as deconstructed building lines on an architects blue print. Before I began on the violin I sketched out different variations of lines and stars that came to me through my marker. Once I began to work on the violin I wanted to make sure that I stayed true to my creative style. I used my sketches as a guide and let the violins shape guide me to the final design. Each stroke resembles the flow of the song and the movement of the violin. I like to use different angles of the canvas to work so I would turn the violin different directions, stop and start at different parts, and change markers in the middle of the project. I wanted the lines of the violin to fall in place with the lines that I drew.
