Item Description
I am so glad that I was chosen to paint the "Star Wars" theme! I had previously painted the two scenes as large murals for a client who was a huge Star Wars fan. The design on the front is called "the Battle of Endor", a scene from "The Empire Strikes Back." The design on the back is called "Coruscant", which is the home world of the Empire. It was actually quite challenging to shrink it all down to fit onto a small and oddly shaped surface like a violin. I began by priming the wood with acrylic gesso. This gives the paint an acceptable surface to stick to. The overall designs were then sketched onto each side and the basic shapes were painted in with acrylic paint. Details were added next to finish the scenes. Finally, the entire violin was coated with varnish to protect the surface. "May the force be with you"
