Item Description

On March 18, 2011, Mike Brown, owner of Mossy’s Fly Shop, hosted an “Up All Night Tie-In” at his store in Anchorage, Alaska.  His vision was to open his shop at 9 in the morning and not close his shop until 1,000 flies had been tied. Mike knew the community would come together, have fun, and be able to produce 1,000 flies.

What Mike didn’t anticipate was that 1,000 flies would only take the industrious fly tyers 12½ hours to complete! Mike then donated all 1,000 flies to Casting for Recovery. 500 of the flies went to CFR retreat participants in fly boxes for them to use during and after the retreats. The other 500 were to be sold to raise money to help fund the summer CFR retreats. In addition to the “Tie-in,” Mike donated 10% of his proceeds for the day.

Over 100 of these flies were auctioned in the Spring 2011 online auction last May. Some of the flies were held back for this Holiday Auction, and there are 10 of the “Up All Night” flies available, five each parachute and caddis.
