Item Description
“Morozko” is the twelfth plate in the “Russian Legends”, a collection of limited-edition porcelain plates created by Master Artist Nina P. Lopatina and is produced in layers of pigment and gold in an edition limited to a maximum of 195 firings. As Father Frost hovers above them, chilling the evening air with a biting wind, the lovely Morozko and her old father return safely home in a treasure-laden horse-drawn troika. Previously Morozko had been abandoned in the forest to die, the victim of her evil stepmother’s whim. While she was alone in the forest, Father Frost approached her, repeatedly asking her if she were warm enough. Since she did not wish to insult the powerful spirit, she told him that indeed she was warm. As a reward for her humility, Father Frost spared her life and showered her with riches beyond her imagining.
