Item Description
This 11" X 17" placemat has a colored map of the United States as it was in 1860-1861 in terms of slave and free states, as well as Confederate states and unorganized territories. The mat was created and is being sold by Darlene Collier, who led the campaign "Citizens Against the Rebel Flag Hanging in Public Places" in Brandon, Mississippi, in Rankin County. A note on the campaign and history on the back side of the map.
Darlene Collier is a colleague of RDLN Leader Meredith McGee, who has worked with her in developing a forthcoming book on her family, a story of poverty and dysfunction called Married to Sin. Ms. Collier worked the night shift in a nursing home for many years. Look for the book soon at Heirsskymall.com, the online marketplace developed by Meredith and her family.
