Item Description
The Sunset League at Cardines Field is a large oil on canvas measuring 24"H x 48"W. Artist Rosemary Kavanagh O'Carroll has been drawing and painting baseball at Cardines Field for two years now. The catcher in the center of the painting is part of the Brother's Oven Team (in the dugout on the left of the painting) who won the championship this year. Rosemary is fascinated with Cardines Field and all of the baseball teams who play there. It is the oldest baseball park in America, and the only park with the two dugouts next to each other.
Rosemary Kavanagh O'Carroll is a Deans list graduate of the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York where she majored in painting. She graduated cum Laude with a BFA in Painting from Central Connecticut State University. She has participated solo shows throughout New England and in Italy and Ireland and in juried group shows throughout New England.
Her awards include Honorable Mention, SCAA All Media; First Place SCAA All Media Open Juried II Juror: Lloyd Martin; Upstream People Gallery Special Recognition; Upstream People Gallery Director’s Recognition and Special Recognition; Miniature Art Society of New Jersey, Outstanding Excellence Achievement Award; Upstream People Gallery, First Place Award of Excellence (monetary award); Michigan State Fair 1st place, Best of Show in professional division (monetary award); 1st place art award to attend Olivet College/ Scholarship; Bloomfield Hills Art Association 1st Place Award and Art Scholarship and Pratt Institute Art Award for sidewalk art.
