Cogsworth
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
1994
This exquisite replica of the timely Beauty and the Beast character is filled with unique details. Cogsworth’s wood veneer is made of custom-dyed pinwale corduroy, faux wood-grain with acrylic paint. The sculpted gold cabinetry details are built from layers of heavy lace that have been sealed, filled with liquid latex rubber, painted gold and antiqued with a wash of diluted black ink. The shoulders are accented with painted gold and adorned with lace and wired cording. A clear sheet of heavy acetate encases the decorative pendulum that was made from a large high relief. Cogsworth's sculpted hair headpiece is patterned foam covered with a highly dimensional fabric and cut-out lace motifs. The rolled curl at the bottom edge is made from a piece of Ethafoam rod wrapped with wired gold cord. Some of the finishing touches on our collector's timepiece include a removable key and a stiffened mohair moustache that suggests the hands of a clock. Time is running out to bid on this classy bear from a classic fairy tale. You'll never regret giving him a good home on your mantel!
