Item Description
The Concord Box is a classic presentation of Concord's enduring and inspirational themes: faith in a harmonious community, the primacy of Nature, patriotism and preparedness, and literature and Transcendentalism. Etched into the box are pen and ink drawings depicting the First Parish Church, Thoreau’s house at Walden Pond, the Orchard House and the School of Philosophy, and the North Bridge and the Minute Man statue.
The Concord Box is made of mahogany and faux scrimshaw, a machine-produced polymer that duplicates the look of real ivory. Oval is shape, 6 x 8 inches.
Box designed by Phyllis W. Hughes, a Distinguished Artist at the Concord Art Association.
