Item Description
Koi Quilt Made by CFR Participants
This is a gorgeous and meaningful quilt. Using fabric with a koi fish pattern, this “Stack and Wack” quilt (44.5 x 64 inches) was created by breast cancer survivors and volunteers from two Texas Casting for Recovery retreats.
Women were given a circle of fabric that had been cut into 6 pieces using a rotary cutter. Each woman chose how to realign those 6 pieces into a new pattern – representing the choice each survivor has on how to put her life back together following a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. All of the new patterns were arranged together and the final piece was then quilted.
This quilt represents the power, hope, and strength of the women of Casting for Recovery.
Item Special Note
Donor Susan Gaetz is the program coordinator for the CFR-Texas. She donated this quilt on behalf of the Texas CFR alumnae and volunteers.
