Item Description

The Brooklyn High School Fund would give high school graduates from low-income families the ability to finance the college application process.  For many of our talented students, the cost of college applications, standardized test fees and college visits is a real roadblock. We want to level the playing field by giving these students, most of whom are the first in their families to go to college, the ability to apply to colleges of their choice without putting a financial strain on their families.
 
Here's some info from Bloomberg news on these costs:
 
$480: College Application Fees. Average cost is $60 per application, for eight applications
$137:Apply for Financial Aidand pay fees using the College Scholarship Service Profile (CSS PROFILE) online
$49: SAT registration
$10.50 to send SAT score to a college
 
The Fund will provide the means to pay for basics that would allow students pursue higher education. 

-Your $250 donation, would support one college-bound High School student with the means to apply for and visit colleges.

“Bidding” on a Support BCS item is considered a donation directly to benefit a certain program, activity, grant or class. All amounts for Support BCS purchases are tax deductible donations to Brooklyn Community Services.  You will receive a tax receipt for your donation following the close of the auction.
