Item Description
Elm Court invites you with a two night mid-week stay in the Emily Vanderbilt Suite with over 1,000 square feet of privacy including period furnishings, a media room, extra twin bed, and balcony overlooking the Stockbridge Bowl. This suite can adjoin the Sloane suite and is lavishly decorated in gold, black and maroon, commemorating Vanderbilt red. Although grand, it exudes warmth and comfort. Sleeps 3 guests.
The estate is still owned by original Vanderbilt family descendents. Elm Court is 55,000 square feet and is the largest American Shingle Style home in the United States. It contains 106 rooms, and was built by William Douglas Sloane and Emily Vanderbilt (granddaughter of Cornelius Vanderbilt "The Commodore,") in 1886, along with architects Peabody and Stearns. Emily's brother George built The Biltmore in Asheville, NC and her sister Eliza (Lila) constructed Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, VT. Both properties, along with Elm Court, are National Historic Landmarks, family owned and 10 rooms are open to guests as a hotel and event location year-round.
Item Special Note
Two-night stay, midweek Sunday-Thursday, expires 12/31/2012.
