Item Description
Susan Angevin is a painter and nonprofit consultant who lives in Dedham with her son. She works mostly in oil and watercolor, inspired by nature, poetry, folk art, her travels, and the stuff of daily life. Color, making connections, and whimsy brighten the journey.
According to Angevin, “Not-So-Silent Spring” pays tribute to Rachel Carson and her groundbreaking book Silent Spring. This year marks the 50th anniversary of her book which traced the deadly impact of pesticides (DDT) on birds and its ultimate threat to our future. Thanks in large part to her wake-up call, our springs are filled with song again.
A graduate of Stanford University, Susan has a masters from Columbia, and has studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Vermont Studio Center. An environmental advocate, she has worked for The Nature Conservancy, The Conservation Law Foundation, The Riverside Park Fund (NYC), and the Weir Farm Trust.
