Mark Susinno was born in Washington, DC in 1957, and grew up in the suburbs of the nation’s capital. Years after he was graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in painting, he eventually began painting underwater scenes of freshwater & saltwater game fish, designing more than 20 fishing license stamps for 11 different states. He is a member of the Society of Animal Artists, American Mensa, and in 2012 was inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame as a “Legendary Artist.”

"Having witnessed firsthand the impact that the Hayman Fire had on the South Platte River, I thought it was appropriate to consider some of the inhabitants of the Poudre River for the Ashes to Art Project."
