Item Description
This traditional warrior shield is constructed of painted rawhide with a wool shield cover attached with sinew. The blue shield cover is intended to hold eagle feathers and to protect the shield from touching the earth if it were to be dropped.
Anthony Parker is a champion pow wow dancer from the Omaha tribe who now lives in Albuquerque. Besides being an award-winning dancer who honors and remembers the old ways, Anthony is also an actor who has appeared in several films and television programs. He is giving to the KUNM auction because the station has given him so much.
