Item Description
Bid on this unique, powerful, exquisite mask created specifically for Unmask AIDS by acclaimed New York artist Alexandra Conn.
Artist's statement: "This mask is an elegant statement on the war and destruction that the world focuses too much money and energy on. War and violence breed negativity and corruption. Guns, soldies, jets, snakes, and rats are some of the visual components - all made in China - crafted with LOVE in NYC."
Item Special Note
Alexandra Conn is a mixed media artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her illustrations, collages, fashion designs and sculptures are often whimsical representations of her surroundings and observations of the world. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Alexandra learned to make things from her thrift and junk store finds. She taught herself how to sew and created wearable art for friends and celebrity clients. Fashion brought her to Paris where she spent years working at Purple Magazine and assisting stylists. Her illustrations and book designs for Huqua Press have been nominated for awards in 2011. In addition to art & illustration, Alexandra works with beauty & fashion brands and integrates brand design, development and marketing outreach tailored to their identities.
