Item Description
Roanoke artist Nancy Stark is known for her railroad car series of watermedia paintings. In recent works she has combined bright acrylic paint, textured surfaces and found objects. For her 2012 Train Engineer Nutcracker she used this painting technique on the lower body. She has painted the side of a Norfolk Southern railroad car which wraps around the nutcracker. This is embellished with some collage and found objects. The shirt is covered with the railroad logos of twenty of the many railroad companies that have been merged to form Norfolk Southern. This is in recognition of Norfolk Southern’s 30th Anniversary. There are several additional small railroad related items including train logos, a map of NS tracks, timepiece, lantern, train tracks and engineer’s cap. The Train Engineer Nutcracker measures 24 ½” tall and is on an 8” base. This engineer would be a fabulous addition to any nutcracker collection or a one-of-a-kind gift for the train enthusiast in your life.
