Come to the Atlas to experience an extraordinary range of quality performing arts including:
Jazz at the Atlas
Jazz at the Atlas curator Brad Linde, a respected local jazz musician himself, brings to the Atlas what “CapitalBop,” DC’s jazz blog, believes is “some of the finest jazz music in the entire Mid-Atlantic region.”
New Music at the Atlas
The Atlas’ new new music series has put the Atlas on the map for experimental, cutting-edge classical music.
Theatre for the Very Young
This series of performances gently introduces the magic of theatre to children under the age of five and engages the very young through song, simple story, movement and imagination.
INTERSECTIONS: A New America Arts Festival
The Atlas’ annual, three-week arts event brings over 11,000 people to the Atlas to experience performing arts that celebrate the diversity and energy of artists and audiences from DC and beyond. The festival features programming in dance, theatre, music and spoken word from many of the best artists and arts groups in the Washington metropolitan region.
Special presentations
Several exceptional music and theatrical performances push the Atlas into an exciting new artistic territory in the 2012-2013 season. On our stages this season, you’ll find Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Vijay Iyer and poet Mike Ladd’s Holding It Down: The Veteran’s Dreams Project, arts activist Marc Bamuthi Joseph’s Word Becomes Flesh and red, black & GREEN: a blues, among other talented, original artists.
Arts Partners
Atlas Arts Partners – African Continuum Theatre, Capital City Symphony, Congressional Chorus and American Youth Chorus, Joy of Motion Dance Center, Rorschach Theatre, Step Afrika!, and The Washington Savoyards – call the Atlas home and provide quality performances for everyone.
