Ellen Franklin is a self-taught artist and enjoys painting mostly landscapes of the rural areas surrounding her Lookout Mountain home. Painting mostly in oil or watercolor, she also enjoys unconventional mediums such as wax, plaster or coffee. A native Chattanoogan, Ellen is a 1975 GPS graduate, a graduate of UTC, and the UT Center for the Health Sciences. She has studied with a variety of artists including Jim Wright, Kenn Backhaus, Henry Isaacs,
and Tom Lynch. She exhibits her work at the Intown Gallery, and Gannon Art Center in Chattanooga, and has been a part of a
three person exhibit at the Creative Arts Guild in Dalton, GA. In 2012 she gave a demonstration of encaustic painting in Dalton.
