Item Description
Two ticket vouchers for Fly, at the Cincinnati Playhouse.
“Fly is a truly unique play that brings the important and inspirational story of the Tuskegee Airmen alive for adults and young people alike. It’s not to be missed!” says Playhouse Artistic Director Blake Robison.
The play by Trey Ellis and Ricardo Khan inventively combines live action and cutting-edge video projections with an emotionally-charged tap dancer who offers insight into the hopes, fears, angers and triumphs faced by the airmen as they find themselves fighting two wars — the one in Europe and the other against the rising tide of racism in their own country. New York Times reviewer Anita Gates said “Fly blew me away … a superior piece of theatrical synergy.
“The airmen, formally the 332nd Fighter Group, took their nickname from Tuskegee, Ala., the town where they were trained, beginning in 1941, to become the country’s first black military pilots — and one of the 20th century’s first real success stories for black Americans.”
Follow the journey of these heroic pioneers as they train for a place in history. Co-creator Ricardo Khan will direct this fast-paced and highly theatrical event.
