Claiborne Farm Experience...In the Hoof Prints of History

Before there was a Secretariat, there was a Gallant Fox, a Bold Ruler, a Buckpasser, a Nureyev and a Careleon...names that flash through the pedigrees of our modern day Derby racehorses. All of those names are forever linked to Claiborne Farm with its Thoroughbred history stretching more than 100 years.

Any new fan of this sport of kings and queens would want to pay homage to and learn about the history of the Farm’s early patriarch Captain Richard Hancock and his son, Arthur B. Hancock, known as "Bull." It was Bull Hancock, one of the horse industry's original "hard boots", that upon his death in 1957, was heralded by the English Annual Bloodstock Review as "probably the most influential breeder in the history of the America turf."

And it was his younger son, Seth Hancock, who figures prominently in the story of Secretariat, as it was Seth that successfully launched a $6 million breeding syndicate for "Big Red" BEFORE the mighty chestnut had entered the starting gate at the Belmont Stakes. On that day, Secretariat launched himself into a 31 length victory margin to secure a place in the history books and a cover on TIME magazine.

This priceless experience is an opportunity to experience Claiborne Farm as a guest of its General Manager, Bradley Purcell, and get an “insider’s view” into the standards and practices of one of the world’s most eminent thoroughbred operation. Your Party of four will receive:

-  A complimentary one-night stay and breakfast at The Guesthouse at Rosecrest Farm

-  An EXCLUSIVE, private tour of Claiborne Farm, home of six of the 11 Triple Crown winners and 25 Kentucky Derby Champions

- Visit the private graves of Claiborne champions, including Secretariat and his sire, Bold Ruler

- A gift of the official SECRETARIAT commemorative brooch designed by Jane Heart and licensed by Mrs. Penny Chenery for the benefit of the Secretariat Foundation

- One hour Pontoon tour (to be picked up behind Claiborne Farm); Visit to the back creek alleys of the thoroughbred farms and explore the  "river that runs through it." Donated by: The Treehouse at Stoner Creek.
