Item Description

The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America has named a research project after the Widom family. The Widom Family Research Scholar Award was given to Dr. Masayuki Fukata at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. This research study will provide novel insights into the causes of inflammatory bowel disease and will hopefully contribute to the development of more effective therapies for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Dr. Fukata’s project must have critical funding to ensure its success. The cost of the three year project is $386,000.

We invite you to join this effort.

Item Special Note

The entire Widom family has dedicated themselves to finding a cure for these difficult diseases.  Mitchell and Glenn are co-founders and, together with Alicia Widom and Ellen Shapiro co-chair the Chapter’s largest annual fundraiser, the Keymorada Invitational Fishing Tournament, which has raised more than $3.3 million over the past nine years.

Please help recognize the Widom family’s dedication to the work of CCFA by making a gift to Dr. Fukata’s research project. Your gift today will help ensure a future without Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
