Item Description
One case (12 bottles) of Collier Falls 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon.
Collier Falls Vineyard is a family-owned, 100-acre hillside property, located in the far northwest corner of Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma, California. An original eight-acre block of head-pruned Zinfandel was planted in 1982. Since then, Barry and Susan Collier have added eleven acres of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah and seven acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Collier Falls produced only 990 cases of the 2002 "Hillside Estate" Bordeaux blend Cabernet Sauvignon and 1,500 cases of a Private Reserve Zinfandel. We believe that great wine starts with great grapes, and our winemaker, Cecile Lemerle-Derbes shares that belief. Cecile grew up on her family vineyard in France and has since studied, taught, consulted and made wine on three continents. She joins us after two years as director of wine production at Opus One in Napa Valley.
The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon shows a dark ruby color...the bouquet has a diffinitive cassis aroma with hints of blackberry. The mouth feel is rich and full with continued nuances of cassis and chocolate through the mid-palate. The wine finishes cleanly with red berries, liquorice and velvety smooth tannins. The 2002 vintage is well suited for aging.
