Item Description
Polynesian Painted Tapa Cloth. Tapa cloth or paper is made from the inner bark fibers of several Polynesian trees, and is often painted with magnificent designs. This circular tapa cloth measures approx. 35" in dimeter. The painted surface is very fragile.
Generously donated by Susan Varn. This piece was collected during the c. 1920s-world-travels of the donor's grandmother, artist, Anita Willets-Burham (1880-1957).
