The Story Behind the Shot: Like many young artists including myself, Adam Henry, an acoustic musician and singer-songwriter with roots in the Santa Barbara sustainable food movement, is fearful of being trapped by the cliches of his genre. As I showed Adam aorund my hometown of Topanga Canyon, we discussed the intricacy of representing his musical vision pictorially. We set off on the trail just before sundown with the idea of shooting simple portraits, hiking barefuoot, just how he likes to perform.
Artist bio: Alex Hoffman is an avid photographer, who recently graduated from the UCSB College of Creative Studies, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Pursuing a career that combines his love and passion for art and science, his work was exhibited earlier this winter at the French Press in Santa Barbara, Ca. Having grown up in Topanga, Hoffman is an avid explorer; his street photography depicts his fascination with the interpersonal dynamics and anticipatory illusions that can be captured by framing a fleeting moment.
