The Story Behind the Shot: La Boca ~ the most colorful, picturesque barrio in Buenos Aires ~ originally settled by immigrants and fishermen from Spain and Italy. The men worked long days in the port by night, so the story goes, and the “tango” dance evolved from seductive and sensuous preludes between the few women and men in the local bordellos. This shot was captured in February 2010 where you can still find tango dancers and live music in front of the cafes and in the streets of La Boca, Argentina.
Artist bio: An award-winning travel photographer and publisher of "The Quiet Between, Song of Burma," Felice Willat (who co-founded Day Runner, Inc.) has traveled through Burma, Morocco, Argentina and other locations in search of the beauty of the human landscape across cultures. Her photos have been exhibited at the TAG Gallery, the Brand Library and other venues in Southern California. Her work is also regularly exhibited at The Topanga Canyon Gallery.
