This gorgeous framed print, number eight in Faith Ringgold's Coming to Jones Road series, is based on one of her story quilts which narrates the journey of runaway slaves migrating to the North.
With an emphasis on clear, direct storytelling, Faith Ringgold's art explores issues of feminism and race in American history. Since the 1960s, she has achieved renown as a painter, quilt-maker, activist, and the author and illustrator of acclaimed children's books.
Ringgold, a Princeton Public Library installed artist, has a long history of exhibitions at major institutions, including retrospectives at the Studio Museum in Harlem (1984) and the Fine Arts Museum of Long Island (1990).
