Item Description
The winning bidder will receive a certificate for lunch or dinner for 4 at Lafayette with wine pairings. Lafayette is an everyday grand café and bakery conducting the spirit of French cooking in downtown Manhattan. The market-driven bistro cooking is a worldly homage to the genre in a setting that speaks to the quintessential clockwork of French livelihoods - eating for pleasure.
Their menu spans a variety of regions from rustic Provence, to Normandy, to neighboring Mediterranean coasts totaling a re-mastery of dishes, some signatures and some borrowed from tradition. Chef Andrew Carmellini is joined by Chef de Cuisine Damon Wise, Pâtissière Jen Yee, and Boulanger James Belisle in the kitchen and Josh Nadel has assembled a list of vin de campagne, cocktails, apéritifs and craft beers.
Layafette's main dining room, bakery and two private dining suites are housed in this iconic landmark building originally designed by Henry J. Hardenbergh. Now steered by Roman and Williams, the interiors have become a light-flooded landscape weighted in tradition and buoyed by new and natural touches like mahogany floors, towering arched windows overlooking the street and honey and blue-tiled columns that define intimate spaces. Lafayette's rotisserie oven stands on display just beyond the entry, and their bakery stays open late for perusing après dinner.
