Sushi Making workshop
May 30th Saturday 12pm-2pm at Fuki Sushi Palo Alto.
FUKI SUSHI - ART OF SUSHI MAKING; A HANDS ON WORKSHOP
The workshop begins with a verbal portion from the chef. The Chef goes through the fish safety of particular fish, sushi making tools and proper Japanese dining etiquette in a Japanese restaurant and when hosting Japanese guests. This is followed by the hands on portion. The students have chefs to instruct and assist with each style. We go through 5 styles of sushi: temaki (handroll), uramaki (inside out roll), hosomaki (skinny roll), gunkan (like uni) and nigiri (fish on the rice) which is the most difficult so we end with this one.
The tables are provided with materials plates for their creations and eat whatever they make. As each style is completed, then the chef will show the students the next style as they eat and enjoy.
