Item Description

Your group of four will experience Iwamanzi (a Zulu word meaning “place of falling waters”) in North West province of South Africa. The reserve is a paradise - 12,000 acres of unspoiled bushveld, with savanna grasslands and riverine areas, 18 natural dams fed by underground springs, with the Selons river running through it.

You will stay in the beautifully designed high thatched roofed chalets and enjoy the outstanding included cuisine, with three meals a day, while being pampered by the caring staff that is there to cater to all your needs.

Your chalet has a big bedroom, large bathroom with endless amenities, and private view-deck overlooking the gorge, where you can spot game during the day and at night the dark African sky reveals a milky way of stars.

The lodge will be your living-room, with bar, dining tables, lounge with comfortable leather couches, library, TV, dvd-player, docking station, fire place, staff-kitchen, and several view-decks.

There is a wooden staircase down to the river. Next to the river is a thatched half open cabin furnished with lounges and chairs where you can retreat and relax, there is an open fireplace and bush bar for the evening campfires. Behind the chalets is a wooden deck, with plunge pool and pool lounges, deck furniture under the old wild olive tree and Game roams freely between the chalets.

The reserve is 12,000 acres and is habitat to many leopards, zebras, hippos, rhinos, buffalos, antelope, warthog, black wildebeest, jackal, genet, otters, monkeys, porcupine and more than 230 different bird species. On a daily basis you will do game drives, bush walks, tracking courses, fishing clinics, camp fires, bush bar’s, we will organize private lunches at the waterfall, dinners on the lower deck overlooking the gorge and down at the river under thatch.

Every day you will be served 3 gorgeous meals and offered 2 game activities to experience.

Day 1 Arrival at Iwamanzi

You will be picked up at the airport. Upon arrival in the lodge, you will be welcomed with a cocktail and refreshments. We will check you in and make you familiar with the rules of the bush. Late afternoon we will do sundowners on the deck and a four course dinner accompanied with excellent South African wines will follow shortly after that.

Day 2  Game drive and fly fishing clinic

Your game ranger will take you on a drive to show you the flora and fauna, the birds and landscape of this unique area. You will be back in the lodge for a lovely lunch under the olive tree. In the afternoon your fly fishing guide will assist the avid fisherman or newcomer to catch bass, tilapia, trout, catfish at our many dams and river. 

Day 3  Tracking and survival course, lunch at the waterfall and camp fire

You will get the opportunity to spend time in the bush on foot with the game rangers and trackers and learn to read the ground, determine footprints and how old they are, how to sneak up on a rhino or giraffe, how to survive when you are out there. Your lunch will be served at the waterfall and in the evening there will be campfire in the gorge under the African stars.

Day 4  Elephant back safari and African Marimba band

Mid morning you will arrive at Pilanesberg Nature Reserve for close encounters with a small herd of elephants. After being introduced and informed about these amazing creatures you will have an elephant back safari ride accompanied by their faithful handler.

In the early evening you will enjoy the happy sounds of one of the local Marimba bands and dance until the moon comes up.

Day 5 Hot air ballooning and rural area tour

You will get up early in the morning for an experience of a lifetime – a hot air balloon ride above the valley of the oldest mountain range in the world. Sunrise is spectacular and you will be treated to a champagne breakfast on your return. Campfire and guitar music will round of the day in a perfect way.
