Item Description
Title: Morning Bath in The Ganges
Description: This photo was taken after the course finished, and a classmate and I continued our travels to the holy city Varanasi. During the course, we practiced the skills of telling stories through observational photographs, and so I decided to take these skills and apply them to a new context. The story here is the intense religious associations people of the Hindu faith have with Varanasi and the Ganges. Despite it being one of the most polluted rivers in the world, thousands of people bathe in it every day and regard it as a form of cleansing and healing.
Location: Varanasi, India
Item Special Note
About The Photographer: "I've been trying to improve as a photographer since high school, and aim to continue improving until I die. In fact, I've made improving as a photographer one of the central goals of my Quest education. A very significant portion of that growth happened in the weeks I spent in the Visual Anthropology course, and I am forever grateful for it. I hope to make photography a part of my career in some capacity, and if not, I will always keep it in my life."
