Item Description
Join GDS Parent David Bloch for a private tour of the Folger Shakespeare Library’s new exhibit "500 Years of Treasures from Oxford," where you'll discover the first 100 years of Corpus Christi College, one of the oldest colleges at Oxford University.
As a Corpus alum and assistant exhibit curator, David will lead you on a private tour of ancient manuscripts and books and other treasures from one of Britain’s most extraordinary libraries. You'll find illuminated works in Greek and Latin along with medieval Hebrew manuscripts and Old English. As the winning bidder, you'll want to make sure to locate unique items such as the oldest surviving Jewish prayerbook from northern Europe and the working notes from the scholars who created the King James Bible. If you're a science enthusiast, be sure to see Isaac Newton’s personal notes on Haley’s Comet and Galileo’s first observation of the moon using a telescope!
Note: Exclusive to the GDS community. All ages welcomed, up to 8 participants. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date before April 30 (exhibits close).
