About Steve & Kate's Camp:
Our Camp conforms to kids, not the other way around. Instead of a rigid structure, we give our campers choice. Instead of teaching kids the typical way, we give them tools and gentle guidance to help them become autodidacts, people who teach themselves. The difference is subtle–and it’s profound.
Nestled within camp are six mighty art and technology studios. Our studios house activities that provide children the opportunity to create something, be surrounded by specialized tools or equipment, and explore without limits. We let campers to to the studios they're drawn to, because we realize when they decide what they want to do, they do it better. Use your passes whenever you want throughout the summer. You don't even need to tell us when you're coming. Everything is included - lunch, all hours 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and materials.
"Go with the flow" is our middle name. Just kidding, it’s “And"
We don’t expect you to know when or what time you can get your troops to camp. You are Moms and Dads, not psychics for crying out loud. We get it. That’s why our policy is as flexible as you need it to be. You can buy a whole summer membership or you can purchase as many day passes as you want. Use the passes whenever. Didn’t use them? No sweat. We’ll give you a full refund for unused passes. And best of all, you don’t even have to tell us when you’re coming. Ta-da. Camp just got easier.
About the Mentorship:
You don’t learn leadership in a self-help book, or on a college exam. You learn leadership by doing it. That’s why we developed our mentorship program. Because we believe that our judgment-free camp environment is the perfect safe space to help teens develop their leadership skills, and have fun along the way.
Designed exclusively for our older campers (aged 13-17), the Steve & Kate’s mentorship program offers the chance to lead, and be led. Mentors will get the chance to show younger campers the ropes, while also getting behind-the-scenes access to camp staff, who will guide them as role models.
What will Mentors do at camp?
- Develop leadership skills such as organization, conflict resolution, time management, empathy, patience, and communication through scaffolded activities, reflection, and discussions with a mentor counselor, all under the close supervision of our staff.
- Observe and assist counselors as they guide new campers through their first day of camp. Mentors will learn about empathy as they help younger children face any nervous feelings that come up from being in a new environment.
- Participate in our Launchpad program where staff will support youngest campers’ learning and social experiences, which gives Mentors the opportunity to learn about child development.
- Observe counselors at check-in and in Camp HQ to learn customer service and management skills.
- Observe and assist the camp cook to put out healthy lunches and snacks for all campers. Spending time in the kitchen is totally optional, but those who participate will learn about food production, food safety and catering.
