Item Description
Join two experts on Squam Lake for a private boat tour in a classic 27’ Chris Craft pictured here. Squam is notable as one of the most pristine lakes in the Northeast, with a shoreline dotted with historic camps, cottages and associated outbuildings that are all but invisible to the casual visitor. The tour will include visits to a few of these properties.
Liz Durfee Hengen, preservation consultant, has been researching and documenting the lake’s rustic camps, farmhouses and country estates for the past ten years. She is the author of Squam: The Evolution & Preservation of a Lakeside Community (2012). Architect Chris Williams, whose family has over 150 years of personal history on the lake, has designed several new homes on the lake, as well as prepared renovation plans for some of the historic shorefront properties. Together, they will describe the history, culture and on-going conservation and preservation initiatives around the lake. Rick Kourian, trustee of the NH Boat Museum, will drive his vintage boat. And…..the successful bidder will receive a copy of Liz’s publication, as well as Squam (Rachel Carley, 2004, rev. 2015)
