Item Description
If you enjoy a good red wine, don't miss this opportunity to bid on a case of DAOU 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon.
Winemaker's Notes: Blackberry, cassis, plum and currant aromas greet the nose, surrounded by black olives, anise, leather, and cigar box. Notes of graphite and crushed stone mingle with just a hint of cool mint. Robust and full bodied, an undercurrent of restrained power is palpable just below the surface at the core of this wine. Firm, fine grained tannins provide ample backbone for the layers of boysenberry, black cherry, licorice and dried herb flavors. Meaty and fleshy while retaining an overall elegance, it finishes with authority and finesse.
The 2016 DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon has also received much critical acclaim:
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: Tasted from barrel, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate reveals notes of cassis, blackberries, licorice and pencil shavings. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and powerful, amply endowed with fine structuring tannins and concluding with a long, dry finish. After the Merlot-, Cabernet Franc- and Malbec-based cuvées, this represents a return to the authority of Cabernet Sauvignon. Rating:92-94
Wine Enthusiast: This is a great way to experience the richness of Daou without hurting the bank account too much. Hedonistic aromas of candied black cherry, caramel, vanilla cake and cola lead into a rich and powerful palate that's soft in texture and lively with exotic plum and black currant flavors. Rating: 92
