Provenance: Grace Church was built on the Dean Academy campus in 1865. Oliver Dean was a major benefactor. The congregation of 70 designed their new church to seat 700, and in fact 700 guests attended the church's dedication. Grace Church was acclaimed as “one of the most beautiful and perfectly appointed houses of worship to be found in any town in New England” (Blake 1899)
