The paddle raise will support our efforts next year to continue three important initiatives that are badly needed.
ONE is to continue to build out our technology. We still have teachers that are working without computers, and the kids need chromebooks. We have so many great things happening on google drive, and on a raft of IB technological systems, and technology helps make it all possible.
TWO we have had so much success with student life but we want to continue the momentum. From theater to the GSA, from ultimate frisbee to social justice, your dollars go a long way towards ensuring that there are plenty of options for our kids to put their minds and bodies to work.
THREE we pride ourself on support for teacher learning, aka professional development. For the past two years we have sent many teachers to IB training, and they all report back on how helpful the experience was. Through the trips, they come to understand we are a school that is part of a world-wide community. We also have begun to work more closely with the Center for Racial Equity. Part of being an international school, and one in the heart of NYC, means that we work together to end injustice and racism in all its ugly forms.
