Item Description
Palm Warbler Hunting for Bugs, Original Watercolor by Mary Helsaple
9" x 12" in a 14" x 18" Blackwood Frame with Bluegreen Matte and Glass
Palm Warblers are only one of the many species of small migratory birds that fly from the far north of Canada, and south to the Caribbean in both the fall and spring along the eastern mountains and coast. Along the way eating thousands of insects. Catching a glimpse of these little feathered jewels is a challenge for any birdwatcher. I have been fortunate to help mist net migrating birds during migration events with field biologists keeping year track of all the species and their numbers. Holding a treasure in the hand while cataloging size and weight and before releasing back into the wild is a special opportunity for an artist. Seeing all that beautiful detail up close is very inspiring, especially for creating a painting in watercolor.
