Item Description
The Soraya, by Scott Yeskel (2017)
Oil Painting on Canvas, 35x31
Scott Yeskel has a deep connection to The Soraya. He displayed his works at The Soraya’s Art Gallery in 2017 with a showing titled “Valley Scenes” and as a local to The San Fernando Valley, brings his children to play in the grass and skate around The Soraya on weekends. Yeskel’s style that brings a mid-century aesthetic imbued with vibrant colors, alive with motion, and a surreal take on the light that only comes from the California sky, ideally represents the heart and soul of The Soraya.
About the Artist
Scott Yeskel was raised in the suburbs of Orange County, California after his parents moved from New Jersey when he was a child. The mild weather and suburban sprawl fueled Scott’s interest in the landscape. Yeskel graduated from the Academy of Art College in 2002 where he won first place in the Landscape category at the Academy’s Annual Spring Show. He was quickly picked up by galleries in Philadelphia, Laguna Beach and San Francisco.
Since that time, Scott has been the subject of over a dozen solo shows, countless group exhibitions and has been featured in over 20 magazine and newspaper editorials. His work speaks to those who identify with the California lifestyle. Recently, Scott’s work was purchased by prestigious corporate collections including Microsoft and NBC/ Universal. Scott currently teaches an Abstract Workshop at the Kline Academy in West LA and resides with his wife and daughter not far from The Soraya.
