Item Description

A POETIC BLANK CHECK: winning bidder specifies theme and form, and Larry Rosenwald writes a poem to these specifications. Over the years Larry has written scores of poems for such bidders, and has many satisfied customers, some of them having bought more than one poem. A sampling of topics: friendships, anniversaries, weddings, geese, early music workshops, glassmaking, and a green Jaguar (the car, not the animal). A sampling of forms: blank verse, Italian sonnet, acrostic, rhymed tetarmeter couplets, rondeau, villanelle, ode.

Lawrence A. Rosenwald is a Professor of American Literature and professor of English at Wellesley, and was awarded a Guggenheim fellowship in 2020. His wide-ranging work in literary criticism includes his current project, "an attempt to define pacifist criticism"; War No More, an anthology he edited of three centuries of American antiwar and peace writing; his literary and scholarly translations from German, French, and Yiddish; and his verse scripts for early music theater.
