Item Description
The winning bidder and guest will enjoy an exciting 3-hour community sail on the SF Bay! Learn about maritime heritage and the art of sailing a traditionally rigged ship! Enjoy the sail or help the crew hoist sails and coil lines.
Matthew Turner is docked at the Bay Model Visitors Center in Sausalito, CA. Access to the ship and parking lot is via Marinship Way.
What is Provided
There is an ice chest stocked with non-alcoholic beverages and packages of snacks such as granola bars and chips. You are welcome to bring food and beverages in individually wrapped servings, such as sandwiches since there are no tables available for dining.
What to Bring
Bring a reusable water bottle to ensure you stay hydrated. You may bring food and beverages if packaged in single-serving portions.
The Ship
Matthew Turner is a 132’ wooden brigantine, built in Sausalito, CA, launched in 2017 and sailing the Bay since 2020. She is a unique educational platform, serving students of all ages in Seamanship, Marine Science, Nautical History, and Team Building instruction. Contact us to arrange an educational sail for a group.
Call of the Sea is a nonprofit supporting on-the-water environmental educational programs for youth. Community Sails are a great way to share our mission and to help lower costs for educational sails.
