Megalodon (Otodus megalodon), an extinct species of giant shark, roamed the seas approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago from the Early Miocene to the Pliocene epochs. This massive and extinct species of shark was the biggest shark that ever lived; it was estimated to grow to nearly 60 feet in length.
This huge Megalodon fossil tooth was recovered in the Atlantic Ocean 45 miles off Wilmington, Delaware, in 115 feet of water by Explorers Club legendary diver Jennifer Arnold who donated it to Shark Research Institute for this auction.
