Item Description
Artist: Grace Cumings
Porcelain vessel; wheel thrown, altered, carved; 6 3/8"W x 2 1/2"H; untitled; 2008.
Ceramist Grace Cumings specializes in producing one-of-a-kind reticulated and translucent porcelain forms. The relief work and carved designs are inspired by the intricate and graceful lines of branch and root formations and influenced by Asian design. Each piece is entirely hand crafted and finished, creating distinctive and truly unique works of art.
Artistic Statement:
The altering, carving and resist work are interpretations or expressions of many things that inspire me; from the natural world to art, childhood memories to architecture. I love the infinite possibilities, stretching the limits and exposing the nature of each piece. While there may be similarities of form, each is unique, with a distinct personality and energy of its’ own.
