These three pieces are connected by the idea of representing the same thing on different perceptive levels. They are made with the Renaissance technique of "pouncing," adapted for the digital age. This method was used by fresco painters to transfer large scale drawings onto the freshly plastered walls. It is made by perforating a sheet of paper along the outlines of the figures in the drawing and "pouncing" a bag of charcoal dust through the holes.
Radek Szczesny is a Polish-born artist who works in Brooklyn. His paintings and drawings explore the ideas of order and chaos, permanence and entropy, and memory and forgetting. He often uses iconic media images, combining them with personal narratives.
