Doc Mitchell is not only an amazing acupuncturist, but also one of the best humans I've had the pleasure of knowing. He's been doing this 30 years, and I've been coming here for 22 years. His office is also the most zen location with views of the trees and nature. His herbal formulas always do me right! He is also full of wisdom. Highly recommended.

The world is separated into people who believe in acupuncture and those that don't. Before Doc Mitchell, I was in the latter category. After Doc Mitchell, I was a convert.
My first time visiting, I went on a friends recommendation. I thought, okay, so the worst case scenario is that I will be $100 poorer. But he is a combination of a therapist, doctor and acupuncturist. After the first visit I felt better-not sure how much was psychological though.
The idea of acupuncture can be scary if you have never done it. And with all the quacks out there, it is enough to make you really paranoid that they are going to harm you or just run you dry of money.
The first good thing about Doc Mitchell is his location. It is a bit hard to find and out of the way, but it is in a building that hangs over a creek in a foresty area. The air smells amazing-as if you are in tahoe- and you immediately relax. Inside, each treatment room has one of its four sides as a floor to ceiling window looking out on the creek and it is so peaceful and relaxing.
During each visit, you start out with a sit down chat about your ailment. He will ask a ton of questions. Something about him makes you implicitly trust him. Then after he is done with his questions, you lay down on a bed, and takes your pulse. Apparently we all have three pulses, and sometimes one is weaker than another, and so that is what he is checking. According to him, my Chi pulse what low. (I think that is your animal energy-"the fire in your belly" ).
He will stick in the needles (which do not hurt-you can barely feel them) then he puts a heating pad on your feet to keep you warm and leaves you alone for about 20 minutes.
When he gets back he checks your pulses and prescribes herbs. I did do the herb treatment, and I felt a lot better. You take it every morning like tea. I felt much healthier than drinking coffee- Much more balanced and calm.
In the end, I honestly don't know if it works since i have no proof. Most doctors will tell you that it is a waste of money. If it makes you feel better, then do it. If I were dying of cancer, I would not put my faith in the hands of an acupuncturist. But for small stuff, it is kind of cool to think that one can heal thyself. And if you are going to try Acupuncture, Doc Mitchell is a good guy to try.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Carol E.Los Gatos, CA8492Feb 16, 2016
I agree with so many of the great reviews. I am going for tremors and I feel the acupuncture and the herbs have been so helpful. The minute you walk in the door you feel welcome. He is on time and has been doing acupuncture for many years. I would highly recommend Doc to anyone.

Doc Mitchell is awesome. I didn't believe in acupuncture before him, and he totally healed the pain I'd had for months during my pregnancy that had to do with my round ligament that made it difficult to walk. Not sure if he helped my labor begin (although that was the idea at 40+ weeks), but my contractions began less than 24 hours after my visit to his office. He takes a lot of time to find out about you before he does anything, and I found that very helpful -- sort of like a mini counseling session before he got to work on me. I was referred to him by another friend who went to him during her pregnancy for help with lower back pain, and she adored him. Highly recommended -- it works!!

AMAZING!
I was referred to Doc by a professional I know. For more than 6 years I've had horrible back pain due to a car accident I was in. Everyday I've endured some sort of pain, some days worse the others. I tried Pain Management MD's and DC's and it was only temporary relief and VERY expensive.
The consult with Doc is FREE, so what did I have to loose? I limped into the office on my first appointment and walked out.
Like Anna, I'm taking herbs (which are affordable). I do notice a difference in my inflammation if I don't take them for a few days.
I'm 2 months into my treatment, I feel better than I have in years. Though my pain hasn't completely left me yet, it's 85% better. And the side effects of less pain are wonderful! I have more energy, focus and patience. I want to participate in life again. I don't worry about "what if's" as much.
Now I can see Doc on a monthly basis and he helps with the inflammation, the pain and muscle spasms. I only have to see the chiropractor when something is out of alignment (not even once a month and I was going a few times per week!).
Overall, Doc has helped reduce my pain, saved me money and given me more of my pre car accident life back. I cannot thank him enough, he is a truly gifted healer.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Michelle P.San Jose, CA99301Feb 16, 2011
I was honestly pretty skeptical that acupuncture could impact my interstitial cystitis, especially since half the doctor's I've met have never even heard of it, but to appease a friend I agreed to give it a shot. I was shocked the first treatment when I actually felt something, and even more amazed as after several treatments I started to feel significantly improved. Doc Mitchell is kind and responsive: really tailoring the treatment to what you are dealing with. Not only has acupuncture helped my IC, but it's made a difference in a variety of other areas in my life and health as well. I am a total convert and would recommend his services to anyone looking to feel better and make a change in their lives.

Doc Mitchell and everyone who works with him is amazing. I have been seeing him since I was a pre-teen and he has been seeing my whole family for years. He is very caring, considerate and goes out of his way to make sure you are feeling better after treatments. I wouldn't trust my health or my family's with anyone else.

I brought my daughter there when she was 17 a few years ago. DOC Mitchell was one of the few people who was able to help her.
He and his Wife are one of the few among many. You feel better just walking through the door. You are always met with kindness.
Thank you.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bonnie P.San Jose, CA09Dec 29, 2014
Doc Mitchell is able to get me standing up straight and walking again. I am not sure how or why what he does works, but it works. The first time I saw him, I was acute (back speak for show mercy and kill me now!). My back spasms are rare now with being very active (and occasionally stupid), Doc Mitchell can get me back on track in a few visits. He is kind, compassionate and real. He even came in on his day off to help me. He is all the good that has unfortunately left Western medicine. If I could give 10 stars I would.
