GIVE YOUR LOVED ONE A GIFT FOR MANY LIFETIMES TO COME!

We are at full speed! The auction to name three out of the only seven benches to ever be placed at the top US-Russia cultural heritage site, Fort Ross State Historic Park, is on but only for another 72 hours!

We'd love you to become a part of the Fort Ross future! By adopting a bench, you contribute to the long-term future of the Park, protecting precious environmental resources, enhancing visitor experiences, and assisting the park’s administration and operations.

In naming a bench, you contribute to:

Trail Plan In the mid 1970s, Fort Ross State Historic Park acquired a large swath of property east of Highway One. It has never been surveyed, and your support will help the park assess the natural and cultural resources and design trails for public access. The trail network may include pedestrian, equestrian and bicycle trails.

Archaeology Survey and Assessment Your support helps the park identify, map and assess potential areas of archaeological interest related to both the Russians and Native Kashaya. Areas include a dacha inside the Fort Ross orchard, a sloboda (wooden Russian village) outside the fort compound, and several Kashaya sites on both sides of Highway One.

Camping and Overnight Facilities and Reef Campground Assessments Your support facilitates assessments for a Reef and other campgrounds.

Flora Communities Fort Ross State Historic Park encompasses a diverse set of ecosystems–coastal waterfronts, redwood groves and ridge top oaks. Your support funds the cataloging of the numerous plant communities, including natives, non-natives, rare and endangered species.

Wildlife Habitat Fort Ross State Historic Park spans 3400 acres, from the coastal waters of the Pacific to the top of the coastal ridge. Your contribution grows the wildlife habitat around Fort Ross.

ABOUT FORT ROSS

Fort Ross is a California State park and a U.S. National Historic site. Located 80 miles north of San Francisco it proves to be a destination point and a hidden gem – a quiet place filled with history, extraordinary ambiance and nearly untouched natural beauty. Being the first European settlement on the north coast of California and the southernmost Russian colony in North America, the fortress is home to a museum on the history of Fort Ross, a life-size replica of the original 19th century windmill, as well as the historic fortress itself, portions of which have survived to this day - the corner towers and embrasures for guns, the house of Alexander Rotchev, the last Russian commandant of the fort, and Trinity Church. Fort Ross is visited by about 150,000 tourists annually.

Due to financial crisis, California state government closed and cut funding to a number of state parks. That, too, affected Fort Ross. Since June 2010 the Renova Fort Ross Foundation has helped to preserve this national historic landmark. We hope you join us in preserving and enhancing the important heritage of Fort Ross.
