Ulman Cancer Center Goes Online In And Out of the Room with Mobile
Online Technology Now Delivers in the Room
Cambridge, MA. March 22, 2012 - BiddingForGood, the leading charitable e-commerce platform connecting consumers and marketers to thousands of nonprofit auctions, announced that the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults (UCF) successfully launched a mobile-enabled live fundraising event.
In conjunction with their recent annual Blue Jeans Ball, The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults ran an online auction and their live event with BiddingForGood, using mobile-enabled features. With over 450 guests at the event, The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults successfully raised $18,835 to fund their mission to enhance lives by supporting, educating and connecting young adults, and their loved ones, affected by cancer.
Well known for running premier online fundraising auctions, BiddingForGood is now enabling supporters to bid from their mobile phones, from the time an online auction launches through the duration of a live event. Adding excitement to fundraising events, the company is seeing a 10%-30% increase in funds raised with mobile enabled (smart auction technology). Recently, nonprofit Girls in the Game also saw an increase in funds raised over last year of 65% by bringing mobile bidding to their event."
Jon Carson, CEO of BiddingForGood says, "Ulman is just a terrific organization, both in the work they do and the forward- thinking approach they take to their events. We're glad to have introduced them to the power of bringing online bidding into the room, which helped them raise more funds for their work."
The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adult's tech-savvy crowd showed their excitement and continued to bid on their mobile devices through a sit-down dinner, several speakers, a live auction, and entertainment. At last year's event, people had to get up during dinner and the entertainment to check on the bid sheets. This year, with mobile bid alerts, the evening's events continued seamlessly without guests being distracted by others getting up to keep tabs on their bids.
"Blue Jeans Ball is both UCF's gala event and a major fundraiser, so there is always a need to balance honoring our amazing award recipients with encouraging our guest to bid on auction items," said Brock Yetso, UCF CEO. "BiddingForGood's mobile bidding allowed our guests to mingle, party, and eat while keeping track of their auction bids."
The Blue Jeans Ball honors individuals and organization that have supported the work and mission of the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. This year's recipients included Seth Rogen, Will Reiser, and Jonathan Levine for their work on the movie 50/50, Dr. Aziza Shad of Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Revolution3 Triathlon and Kaiser Permanente, Amy Babst, mother of two, cancer survivor, and UCF volunteer, and Team Fight coach Mike Lombardo.
