Top 10 Promotional Ideas for Schools

1. "Backpack" Flyers
Often, schools have a dedicated day when all homebound print communication is sent to parents via their students (often in a durable, plastic folder). Get necessary approval for your flyer, and send home a handout containing information about the auction.

2. Banner
Hang a banner announcing your auction name, dates, and URL somewhere prominent in the school or local community. Hang multiple banners, if possible!

3. Announcements over Public Announcement (PA) System
Schedule verbal announcements to be read over your school's/s' public announcement systems before your auction opens, publicizing the open date; during the auction, mentioning great items up for bid; and as your auction is about to close, promoting the last chance to bid!

4. Bookmarks
Print informal bookmarks containing your auction dates and URL and distribute them in classrooms, libraries, school book fairs, local bookstores, and anywhere books are sold.

5. Set Up an Informational Kiosk
With all the events run by schools, there are myriad opportunities to spread-the-word. At parents' nights, football games, dances, etc., set up informational kiosks or booths manned by volunteers who can answer questions about the auction. Arm them with information to distribute regarding how to donate and bid.

6. Posters in schools, athletic fields, libraries, local stores and restaurants
Create a poster announcing your auction, and plaster the town with it!

7. Weekly Emails
Send weekly emails using cMarket's Auction Manager announcing important milestones: Auction Coming Soon, Auction Open, Bid Now, Donate and Item, Auction Closing Soon, Last Chance to Bid, etc.

8. Announcements at planned/athletic/community events
Take inventory of your school's meeting, planned events, athletic schedule of games, community calendar, etc., and plan to make a verbal announcement regarding your auction wherever and whenever possible.

9. Post an "Auction Updates" link to your School & Town Web site
Ask your School and Town Webmaster to post a link to your auction from the district and town websites.

10. Print advertisements in local newspapers.
