Then. Now. Always.
This year, the YMCA of Honolulu proudly commemorates 150 years of outstanding community leadership and meeting the diverse needs of Oahu’s communities. We will culminate our year of celebration at the Ko’olau Ballrooms on November 9 th with a Ho’olaule’a celebration with an anticipated 650 guests.
Every year, more than 100,000 kupuna, men, women, teens, and keiki are helped by a YMCA program or service. Our 9 locations island wide provide a wide range of benefits: summer programs for keiki, substance abuse programs for teens, tutors for struggling students, transitional housing for the homeless, childcare for working parents, meals for hungry children, health programs for those battling chronic disease, afterschool programs, enrichment, and leadership training, with a sense of community in a safe environment for all.
All of our programs promote the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and personal responsibility, and we help to cultivate and grow each generation’s new leaders. Our legacy would not be possible without the extraordinary people who have contributed greatly to the success and longevity of the YMCA. In celebration of our 150 th anniversary, we will honor 17 of those individuals for their partnership that helped us to transform so many lives.
