Welcome to El Amor de Patricia's Online Auction and Fundraiser.

Starting on June 4, 2021, El Amor de Patricia will be auctioning off fun and unique items to bid on to raise money for our organization during our annual fundraising campaign.  The auction will run through Monday, June 14 AT 8 PM.

We are auctioning off all things Guatemalan to help support the artisans who have had been deeply affected by the 100% reduction in tourism in Guatemala during the pandemic.  We purchased everything at a fair trade or retail value. NEW ITEMS WILL BE ADDED THROUGHOUT THE WEEK.

We are so excited to show you what is happening at El Amor.  We will be sending a few email blasts to outline what we have been doing throughout this past year. There will be stories about the school, the kids, and our feeding programs. We will follow up with a Fund a Need email after it is all over. There will be opportunities to make tax-deductible contributions throughout the campaign as well. 

El Amor has missed our visitors and teams this pasts year. It has been a rough year for the entire world with this pandemic. However, we have managed to sustain our programs throughout this uncertain time.  With your help, we fed over 500 families for over nine months in the village of Yalu when their borders closed and all public transportation shut down.  Nearly every person was out of work.

With four classrooms complete, we also launched our first programs at our school in Yalu.  In March, we started Conalfa, in partnership with the Dept of Education in Guatemala, and are holding classes for the moms in Yalu who were forced to stop going to school at very young ages.  In conjunction with Conalfa, we have a daycare and preschool onsite for the kids of those moms so they can focus on learning.  The children are getting an education too!  They are learning their numbers and letters just like their moms in the classrooms next door.  The kids are also getting exposure to English on a daily basis.

Next, we will be building our library as we work through the long and arduous process of becoming a certified school.  We will tell you all about it in the coming days.

Lastly, the kids at El Amor's children's home are thriving.  Since the kids have not been able to leave El Amor much, the nannies brought the outside in.  Since the fair didn't come to town, the staff created one right at El Amor.  They held their own Olympics, school plays, and even Santa came to visit. 

We have over twenty kids doing school at home while the government has closed all schools.  It is amazing to watch them in action.  Focused and quiet.  I was blown away when I witnessed this on my trip down in May. 

It is an honor to work among these amazing people at El Amor. They are the most dedicated hard-working people I know.
